American (English) French remake TV series HPI (2021)
Synopsis
Follows Morgan, a single mom of three, and how she uses her brilliant mind to help solve a crime by rearranging evidence during a police department cleaning shift. Despite her very high IQ, excellent memory, and extensive knowledge of secrets, Morgana makes a series of major legal mistakes that anyone who has ever watched a TV law show would know she doesn’t make. For example, in the first episode, she retrieves a document from a locked safe at the suspect-victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court—illegal evidence.
admissible in court
Nor could it be used to obtain other evidence—a violation of the “fruit of the poisonous tree” legal doctrine. In Episode 2, she has to be reminded to wear gloves before handling evidence at a crime scene, and in Episode 3, she removes all the documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of custody and preventing everything she removed from being released. Remake of HPI (2021).
The original French version, Haut Potential Intellectuel, was much smarter
The first episode was pretty much the same as this first episode, except it was cut from the first part where it was established that she lacks patience with the people she talks to. She worked not only as a cleaner in the police department, but also at work. She gets fired from that job for being disrespectful to a customer.
After watching the original version, it’s extremely hard not to compare
After that missing scene, the rest of the first episode was basically the same. The biggest difference is in the main character, Morgan, who is much more quirky than the one portrayed in the American version. It might be just as entertaining because I like Caitlin Olsen.
